Prayer for the Fearful

Oh God,
What have we done?
Will piety be forgotten in favor of lewd behavior and impulsive speech?
Have we so forgotten you, oh Lord?

You who walked with your people
You who spoke to your prophets
You who evolve the mind and transform our will

Where are you now oh God?
In the racist?
In the xenophobe?
Have we so forgotten their worth that we need to be reminded?

Fill us with your hope.
Fill us with your love.
Fill us,
that we might continue to strive toward freedom, justice, and peace.

Remind us that we are not alone.
Remind us that we are not the first to walk this path.
Show us our ancestors of justice work
Show us the path toward your Kingdom is not the easy one

With your Spirit in us,
we will press on.

We pray to remember the journey forward must include those at the back.

We pray for patience.
We pray for grace.
We pray to see a new day.

May it be so.
Amen
